Wunan Foundation is a leading Aboriginal development organisation based in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Its purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal people enjoy the capabilities and opportunities necessary to make positive choices that lead to independent, fulfilling lives.
The People & Services Coordinator supports the Corporate Services team to identify, develop, and implement solutions across a range of human resource functions.
In addition, this role will contribute to the design, implementation, and leadership of strategies focused on staff training, career development, and performance management, with the aim of fostering a skilled, capable, and engaged workforce.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinate generalist human resources functions and processes to ensure compliance with organisational requirements, legislation and best practice.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of HR strategies and initiatives that align with Wunan Foundation’s broader strategic and operational goals.
- Provide timely guidance and support to managers on a range of HR matters and operational requirements.
- Ensure all HR documentation is clear, accurate, securely stored, and accessible to relevant staff in accordance with organisational protocols.
- Oversee of the workforce development framework, contributing to the design and delivery of comprehensive strategies that support staff training, career progression, and employee retention.
- Promote continuous learning, professional growth, culturally safe and inclusive practices throughout the organisation.
Requirements of the role:
- A demonstrated commitment to the core mission of Wunan
- Demonstrated experience in human resource function including but not limited to- recruitment, organisation and employee development, employee relations, industrial relations, employee engagement and organisational change, work, health and safety, HR information systems and reporting, training and development
- Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics with knowledge of HR systems and databases
- Knowledge of relevant statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to HR and IR
- Demonstrated understanding and skills in the development and implementation of workforce and organisational policies, procedures and frameworks.
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
- Qualifications in Human Resource, Business Management or other related field or equivalent experience
- Well-developed computer skills including - Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience with a range of HR databases
- Willingness and capacity to participate in further career development studies in HR and/or QA.

- Indigenous Australians are encouraged to apply
- Knowledge of the NGO sector
- A strong understanding of Indigenous people in general, and of Indigenous people and communities in the East Kimberley in particular
Pre-employment requirements
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check(not older than 6 months)
- Current Australian unrestricted ‘C’ class Driver’s license
